Thundercake (By Patricia Polacco) – A little girl, hiding under a bed because she is afraid of thunderstorms, is coaxed out by her grandma who suggests they make a Thunder Cake. The two have to go outside to gather eggs for the recipe from the mean old hen and milk from the old kick cow. With lightening flashing and thunder rumbling they gather the rest of the ingredients and hurry back inside. As the cake bakes in the oven, the grandma points out to the little girl how brave she is, because only a brave girl could face the mean old hen and old kick cow, etc. As the storm arrives, the two sit down to eat the cake and the little girl never fears thunder again.
