Buy it: The Perfect “Stand Back,” Said the Elephant, “I’m Going to Sneeze!”
“Stand Back,” Said the Elephant, “I’m Going to Sneeze!” (By Patricia Thomas) – This is a very funny book, with great rhymes throughout, about an elephant warning the other animals that he is about to sneeze. Each of the animals begs the elephant not to sneeze because his enormous sneezes cause so many problems. The monkeys complain that his last sneeze blew them out of the trees. The birds lost their feathers; the bear lost his hair, the giraffe bent in half and the snakes were tied in knots the last time elephant sneezed. Just as the elephant is about to sneeze, a mouse surprises him and he forgets he had to sneeze. But then the elephant starts to laugh and unfortunately for the other animals, his laughter is just as bad as his sneeze.
