Buy it: Melissa and Doug Magnetic Dress-Up

I don’t think I’ve bought my daughter Ally, 4, a single Melissa and Doug toy that we didn’t both love. And the Melissa and Doug Magnetic Dress-Up dolls are no exception.

These dolls are wooden and magnetic and each comes with several pieces of clothing that can be stuck on to dress them up like modern day paper dolls.

Ally has both the “Maggie Leigh” and  ”Princess Elise” dolls and loves to dress them up over and over again. “Maggie Leigh’s” magnetic clothing includes dresses, jeans, shirts and shoes, while “Princess Elise” has a variety of princess dresses, crowns and gloves. Some of their clothing can be shared but not all of it since the two dolls’ arms are in different positions. If I could change one thing about the dolls, it would be to make them so all their clothing could be shared.

Each dolls comes with a wooden stand to hold the doll upright and a wooden box to store the doll and her clothing.

Melissa and Doug toys are always great quality and appropriately priced.  If your child gets invited to several birthday parties each year, this toy makes a great inexpensive gift. There is also a ballerina doll available and a boy doll, “Joey,” who can be dressed up as a fireman, a knight, a super hero, a pirate, etc.
